SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test)

Overview and Intro

The SAT is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States. It is one of the key requirements for test takers seeking admissions into colleges. The exam takes 3 hours and 45 minutes to finish and is graded on a 600 to 2400 scale. The College Board states that the SAT measures literacy and writing skills that are needed for academic success in college. They state that the SAT assesses how well the test takers analyze and solve problems.
The SAT is a paper based exam and requires a valid international passport to write the exam.The SAT is divided into 3 sections; the Critical reading, Mathematics and Writing. Each section is graded on a 200-800 scale. Total score is the total of the scores gotten on the 3 sections.

Topics and Outline

Critical Reading 
The Critical Reading section of the SAT is
made up of three scored sections: two
25-minute sections and one 20-minute section,
with varying types of questions, including
sentence completions and questions about
short and long reading passages. The number
of questions about each passage is proportional
to the length of the passage.

Also known as the Quantitative section.
ThIs section is divided into 3 parts. two 25
minutes sections and one 20 minutes section.
2 of these sections are entirely multiple choice
while the other being a grid in system in which
the answer is written in a grid table. The use
of calculators are allowed in this section. The
questions are in order of difficulty.

This section includes a brief essay and
also multiple choice questions. The essay
is always the first part of the SAT to be given.
The essay usually amount to about 28% of this
section’s total score. It requires a response to a
given prompt and it is 25 minutes long. The
multiple choice questions include error-identification
questions, sentence-improvement questions,
and paragraph-improvement questions.
